There must be some genetic strain
some helictical refrain
that bound us two, so
apparently unalike we
might as well be from different dimensions
You with your borrowed hawk features
carefully arranged to frighten the
uninitiated and
I with my farm fed baby fat
still hugging me close
like a fetish blanket
you loomed into my life
that day unannounced
like a djinn from a movie set
of ancient Araby
and Iloved you instantly
(or so I thought)
for your fierce honesty
(or so I thought)
your mantle of masculinity
wornn willingly
(or so I thought)
a role model ready bought
(or so I thought)
actually you were trying
to orbit the delightful dancer
in our otherwise mediocre troupe
and I got caught in the gravitational tug
But it doesn't matter
it was karma
no matter how you cut it.
Years down the road
the glamor has fled
tarnished and chipped away
to reveal the human territory
and I am disappointed
once again at the common clay
I struggle to love the reality
behind the ilusion
I wanted angels with terrible smiles
and wings of divinity unfurled
above their awesome inhuman heads
or at least demons with silver talons
and humor in their great red eyes
I wanted astral sex and mysteries unlimited
runes written in fire I wanted
and the language of the stars
singing undisturbed and understood forever
Instead I get a intellect precise
as a swess watch
and desert heart
so dry the idea of moisture
seemed obscene.
