Marvin Rand, Resident of the Marina and Venice

I have all these amazing energetic
images of Marvin in my head. His spryness. His belief in quality. His
unique voice – that I'm really going
to miss. “Now, Tibby,” he would say
as the prelude to telling me I had
something way wrong…

Marvin was an active resident of his communities. Opening his studio for the Venice Art Walk gave him a sense of connection to other Venetians. He was a recognized fixture at various Venice eating establishments, especially Hal's. He also participated in (and periodically tormented) his condominium association in Marina del Ray.

The memories of Marvin's soft
spoken, gentlemanly way, wry sense
of humor and twinkling eyes will
always be with me.

I will miss seeing him not only at
Achim and LBT (Leo Baeck
Temple) but also at the Farmer's Market in Venice where I last
spoke with him and Mary Ann...

He gallantly faced his physical challenges, recognizing his
limitations while pursuing
his career with all the vigor
he could muster…
