Faith Chat

HOST Dream: Is convenience reason enough to allow students to pray in school rather than at their houses of worship?
RighteousOne: Yes.
DoctrineDoc: Dream's house of worship is the woods, so maybe it's more about the weather. <eg>
Mishugenah: LOL
HOST Dream: Doc, there is that. ;-)
Mary's Daughter: I don't see the big deal. If kids want to pray together after school on school grounds, why not?
RighteousOne: Mary, they fear the Christian God.
ResurectThis: Isn't most religion about fear?
DoctrineDoc: No, RT, it's about guilt ;-)
The Thinker: Fear and community. What a combo.
Mishugenah: I resemble that remark, Doc.
RighteousOne: You would, Mish.
HOST Dream: Easy, RighteousOne. This is a friendly discussion.
RessurectThis: Fundies don't know how to be friendly.
Mary's Daughter: Righteous is not a fundamentalist -- he's passionate about his faith.
God Is Dead: Lucky us.
Mishugenah: I appreciate passion, but I respect a diversity of opinions.
RighteousOne: That's because you have no faith.
ResurectThis: Faith is overrated.
DoctrineDoc: RO, now who's full of it?

God Is Dead:

Ressurect, good one. LOL

Instant Message from Righteous One:

Righteous One: Hypocrite
Mishugenah: Here we go again.
Righteous One: I'm consistent. You're a hypocrite.
Mishugenah: Why?
Righteous One: Have you ever seen me contradict myself?
Mishugenah: No, I mean why am I a hypocrite?
Righteous One: You know why.
Mishugenah: Evidently I don't.
Righteous One: Hypocrite.
Mishugenah: Knock it off. No more IM's. I'm forwarding these to Dream.

Righteous One:

I'm quaking in my boots.

Faith Chat

AllisAll: What if we called it meditation rather than prayer?
HOST Dream: Interesting idea, AllisAll. Information on meditation can be found in our library, along with books and accoutrement for any religions ritual.
RighteousOne: Call it for what it is.
The Thinker: Some would say meditation is self-reflective, whereas prayer is reaching out to that greater something many call God.
Mary's Daughter: I would see it as prayer, but I'd have no problem calling it meditation if it made others more comfortable.
Mishugenah: Works for me.
ResurrectThis: Prayer is for sissies.
DoctrineDoc: Thinker is right -- definitions preclude any type of agreement.
God Is Dead: Thinker, really?
ResurectThis: "Preclude"? Who uses "preclude"?
Mishugenah: Nothing wrong with disagreement.
DoctrineDoc: RT, bite me.
ResurrectThis: Only to the disagreeable.
AllisAll: I like that one, Resurrect.
